Hello whyknot,

What you do need to update though, is Adobe Flash Player .....

Your system details show that you're running an older version, which can cause problems. Would you please uninstall your current version and install the latest version, which is 32.0.0.101

Uninstaller : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Note : some 'extras' may be offered in the download.

To distinguish between fake messages from web pages and messages from Firefox or an add-on, you can test using zoom: hold down the Ctrl key and tap + a few times. The page content should enlarge. If the notification enlarges, it is part of the page and not part of Firefox's interface. (Hold down Ctrl and tap 0 to reset the zoom level, or click the 120% button -- or whatever it says -- in the address bar.)
