New April2019 version of avast online security including Firefox addon does not work. Is this general or only Windows 7
Until new version of Avast released (V.730.1270.87) and auto-installed on my Windows 7 PC I was happily using Avast secure Browser . Now with its new technicolored icon instead of the old ships wheel icon it only loads a blank window with X etc in top right corner. Great icon but.... I tried all the recommended things (double click, turn PC off & on, uninstall, new download and reinstall etc). About impossible to make contact with AVAST since they class the Browser as a free product. I checked one of the Avast forums and found several others have posted same problem with the latest April 2019 release of Avast.
So today I moved to Firefox and installed latest version of Firefox to be my main browser. Good reputation for privacy etc.
"Hooray - Avast secure browser with bank mode etc included as a Firefox add-on. This will get me back on track surely the Avast version with Firefox will work".
But alas no can do. The Firefox add-on produced exactly the same blank screens as the free Avast Secure Browser download and the version included in paid up Avast.
I think the Avast company needs to fix the problem & maybe the Modzilla group can get some action from them. I recommend you remove the Avast add-ons option from Firefox until the problem is fixed by Avast OR AT LEAST include a warning about versions of Windows etc that may not support newest version of Avast on-line security and its add-on version with Firefox.

I would strongly encourage you to NOT use Avast. Avast has a tendency to do things that actually make your computer LESS secure.
You would be far better off if you did the following:
- Uninstall Avast entirely
- Install Microsoft Security Essentials https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14210/security-essentials-download
- Install Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.com) and run a monthly scan
- Install all updates that are available for your computer. If you can update to Windows 10 for free still, you should do that.
This will keep your computer more secure and prevent issues that Avast brings.
By using Firefox, you've made a good step to keeping your computer secure and private :)

I have Avast (Latest version 19.4.2374) and the AOS Extension and the Avast Secure Browser on my Windows 7 Pro SP1 MCE computer, and all appears ok. Sure, Avast has had its bumps, but it appears to be running fine these days. They have redone their 'engine' and it's better by far than the "Avast of The Past." (Grin)
My last check some months ago over at Avast Support showed relatively few posts about it and FF problems. So, Avast and FF appear to be ok with most users.
I'll be jumping over to Avast Support soon to see about a particular problem I'm having with Twitter.

I have Version 73.0.1258.86 (Official Build) (32-bit) of the Avast Browser. It's says it's the latest version. Seems to work ok at my end.
