When I changed to imap to coordinate with my aol account, Thunderbird created a junk folder, a trash folder, and a "Bulk Mail" folder. But the Aol account only has Spam and Trash. I can't seem to change the name on the Bulk Mail folder to Spam, even though it has the same files. Can someone help. I'd also eliminate or unsubscribe to the junk folder.

re :When I changed to imap I presume you created a new imap mail account and did not try to change the settings of a pop account.

'Bulk Mail' is the server Spam/junk folder. It is a default server folder and you cannot edit it's name nor unsubscribe.

You mention AOL, but did you used to be a verizon user? In your Account Settings for imap account, what is the server name you are using for incoming mail?

There may be more than one place to logon. I'm thinking this could have something to do with yahoo.

Yes, I created a new imap mail account. Yes, I was a Verizon user. Server name is imap.aol.com

AOL is now Yahoo and yahoo have an IMAP folder for spam. Perhaps they rename it in the web interface, but that is how Yahoo is. A dismal failure as a mail provider really.
