Open Thunderbird when clicking on Windows 10 notification area
I don't know if this is a Windows thing or a Thunderbird thing so I'll ask on both forums:
I have configured my mail account in Windows > settings > email & accounts so I'm able to receive new mail notifications in the Windows 10 notification area (bottom right in the system tray) without having an email client open. I have set my default mail application in Windows > settings > default apps > email > to Thunderbird.
Whenever I get a new mail notification in the Windows 10 notification area (bottom right in the system tray) and I click on the notification, it opens Windows Mail instead of Thunderbird which is the default mail application. How can I make Windows open Thunderbird instead of Windows Mail when I click on the notification?

Thunderbird needs to be running in order for Thunderbird to check with the server if there are new emails. Then Thunderbird will pop up a notification in lower right corner.
If you do not have Thunderbird running and you are getting a notification in Windows notification area then have you ever set up a mail account in 'Mail' because it could be running in the background.
