downloads window does not show size and empties without being able to open manually from there

in firefox 4.o.1 the download box no longer shows size of file and the file disappears when finished. Previous versions did not do this. How do I reset to the older feature?

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember download history"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
