how do I delete something I have downloaded

I downloaded some files that I would now like to delete from my computer for privacy protection. I know how to clear the download list using Tools, but will that delete the files from my computer?

Removing it from the downloads list ("Ctrl+J") will not affect the file at all.

Right click on the file in the downloads, and choose "Open containing folder", which be an Windows Explorer window you might want to sort descending on "Date modified".

Thanks. Is that how you completely remove the download from the computer.?That is what I want to do.
