What is "release update channel" mean in FF6?
Just updated from FireFox 5.0 to FireFox 6.0. Under Help > About, it says that FireFox 6.0 is currently on a "release update channel"; can anyone explain what this means? Am I using a Beta version of FireFox 6.0? I'm confused...
It also has a button saying "Check for Updates" which when clicked upon says that FireFox is up-to-date. That button was not there in FireFox 5.0 - I am assuming that the button is an addition to FireFox 6.0?

Hi!
They are 4 update channels in Firefox.
- Nightly: The most unstable and buggy one. It's where all the tests are performed.
- Aurora: Improved stability with all the new features to come. Every version would spend 6 weeks in this channel. (Now you would have FF 8 on Aurora)
- Beta: The Firefox version that is almost ready but need a little bit of debugging.
- Release: This is the standard version where the majority of users, including you are. It's fully tested and stable.
That "Check for Updates" button only appears when the user has automatic updates for Firefox de-selected in Options > Advanced > Update and was first in Firefox 4.0.
A-HA !! THANKS ED=MEISTER !! That is exactly what I have done !!
