Everytime I get out of firefox and try to bring it back up, I am told "firefox is already running, but not responding-please restart your computer"

Everytime I get out of Firefox and try to bring it back up, I am told "Firefox is already running, but not responding. Please restart your computer". This is getting very aggravating. Is there some kind of a fix? in English

How long are you waiting before trying to re-open Firefox? It does take it a little while to shut down.

Sometimes it's several minutes, and other times I can come right back into it. Usually I shut it down when I'm done balancing my checking account. Then I'll try to open Firefox to play games or shop and I'll have to restart my laptop.
