Downloads are showing as occurring but the files are not actually downloaded.
It has been happening since Firefox 9 that whilst I am able to download files and they show as being downloaded they actually do not download and are never stored in the folder they are being downloaded to. During a download it is possible to see the partial files but then they simply disappear.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
