Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 10.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
You may have to disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work or only the real-time (live) scanning of files.
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
- Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
cor-el your way ahead of me in computer knowledge.. How do i disable my anti=virus and doesn't that leave me open to problems? I tried downloading again after i cleared my files and download folder of firefox exec. the message says " The program publisher couldn't be verified.. Are you sure you want to run this program" I click "run" the program says "Extraction failed" and File is Corrupt" I click OK and the download dissapears I have saved the download and when I try to run the program from the saved download the same corrupt message appears. I have no files I can find that are identified as either Mozilla or Firefox. Iv'e run tne above at least 3 times with the same results. Any other things to try and in dummy language please. Thanks
You only need to disable that software temporarily, long enough to allow downloading the Firefox setup file and installing Firefox.
There is usually an icon on the Taskbar to open the settings window of your anti-virus software.
