I downloaded a free program and it came with a browser called Conduit, and some Free Radio link. I cannot find a way to get rid of it, can anyone help me?

I want Firebox to always boot up the Yahoo homepage. When I click the + add tab page I want the Yahoo homepage. At present when I click on the add tab it comes up with some weird browser called Conduit 2012. It also gave me some 'freeonlineradiorecorder' which I definitely don't want. I have been into the Add and Remove thing on my pc and I thought I had removed this garbage from my pc, but each time I hit the add tab page up comes this awful browser. Please would you tell me how to get rid of, john

hello claibreea, please also have a look in firefox > addons > extensions if any remnants of this unwanted software are present there - if so, uninstall them!

afterwards enter about:config into the location bar of the browser & search for a setting called browser.newtab.url. right-click and edit that setting to enter your yahoo homepage or choose reset to get a blank page instead of the conduit site..

It's probably a separate add-on. See whether you can find it here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions

In some cases, you can remove an add-on right there, but in other cases, you need to use the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Any luck?

If you can't track it down in either place, check under Help > Troubleshooting Information in the Extensions chart for anything obscure or suspicious.

thank you for coming back to me so fast. I have got rid of Conduit, but I am not sure about where to enter about:config

hello, the location bar is where you'd normally enter a web address like www.google.com - also have a look at the screenshot, it should make things clearer (you might have to confirm a info message after before you can about:config)

where it says Modify, and then says About: Blank, do I change that to www.yahoo.com?

more options

yes - about:blank is the default option in firefox & will open a white page (in future versions there will be a preview of your nine most visited pages). in case you want yahoo to show up on each new page enter www.yahoo.com as value for the setting.
