I am using Firefox 30.0 on windows 7.

I know that a one-time automatic tab opening of introductory to particular Add-ons web page/s happens after installing or updating the Add-on but now the web-page >http://www.clickvideodownload.com/getting_started.php< always opens in a tab next to the blank page tab on initial start-up.

The setting I have for tabs in Options is: startup> when Firefox starts:> show a blank page.

At one point in time recently, it seems that after checking for updates (Help> About Firefox) this issue started.

Hi HS44, Please try How to disable or change the Thunderbird start page and How to fix preferences that won't save and post back with the results. You can check the url of a new page in the [about:config] page or check to see if the option in the add on has been marked to include itself in the homepage.

guigs2, Thanks for responding to my question.

I did read "How to fix preferences that won't save" before writing-in my question and the blank page that I did save as the opening page always did save and opened at initial Firefox start-up, as I stated: "always opens in a tab next to the blank page tab on initial start-up."

I really don't know why but the issue solved itself and stopped happening. It may have stopped because I did a system tune-up and one registry was deleted from somewhere (I don't know where from so may likely be unrelated).

I did list that your suggestion did not help solve the problem because: 1- the problem simply went away on it's own, and; 2- before I posted my question I did look at the "How to fix preferences that won't save" and tried to change that preference to something else> restart Firefox> reset that to blank page again> restart Firefox: that all worked as it should have but did not solve issue, and; 3- the blank page on initial start-up tab always did come up and always was first tab (on the left end of margin as normal.).

Once again thank you for your effort.

I guess even though it is a mystery to me, for now this issue is now apparently solved. :-)

There is usually a pref that sets the last used version number of the extension. If that pref isn't updated or there is a first run pref of the extension then you get the update page of the extension. You should only see such a page once if the extension has updated.

Cor-el, thanks for your info.

Even though I am not knowing what a “perf” is, I am thinking that maybe after I went to the “Help” button on the tool bar then clicked “About Firefox” (FYI; I did that several times before the issue went away), I think it may be possible that one of the most recent times I did that it may have somehow reset to the correct defaults(?).

I have closed and opened Firefox a dozen or so times since the issue self-corrected and so far all has been normal.

To all who want to help with this, Thanks; I consider the problem solved at this point in time (even though I don't know how), the problem seems to have gone away. Time is a precious thing so unless you want to say more about this issue you may want to go to something else.
