Firefox starts a week old download on startup

Every time I open firefox it does the animation as if I started downloading a file, and then attempts to "resume" a download I completed about a week ago. It immediately fails and then acts normal, but if I close firefox and reopen it, the download attempts to resume again

  1. Click the Downloads button on the toolbar.
  2. Right-click the failed download and choose "Remove From history".
