system restore wiped out my bookmarks

It is possible that the profiles.ini got restored to an earlier version and that you have switched to another profile or a new profile got created. If you had reset Firefox after the date of that restore point then this likely has happened.

I found my bookmarks but when I use a program MS Excell I do not understand the text its all in a different format how can I convert JSONZ4 file to make it readable?

No the .jsonlz4 is a special compressed file format that only Firefox can read and that Firefox uses for backups that are created automatically. You will have to restore such a .jsonlz4 backup in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) to see what bookmarks it contains. The number appended after the date denotes the total number of bookmark items in the file (this includes folder and separators). JSON backups that you create yourself use the uncompressed .json format, but you still have to restore such a backup as it is in JavaScript object format and not very human readable.

How can I read this json file in Bookmark Manager (Library) thank you for your helping me I lost many favorites and this file is the only backup I have.
