I uninstalled Firefox, re-installed it using IE (that has also been taken over by the same webpage), and the problem is the same. I cannot get rid of that news page

Try following the guide:

It seems to also recommend free antimalware tools. If you download the tool and it asks you to pay, make sure that you are downloading from the correct website.
