I've tried options such as raising preview and word wrap and print screen etc - but the result of printing is either like the attached or normal print with no word wrap so data is cut off. A co-worker had the same problem and something was fixed in config but he can't remember what was done.

The one thing that springs out is that very long line. It looks as if it has shrunk the text in order to accommodate that long line in the page width.

Did the message appear this way when you read it on screen? Did you have to scroll left/right to see the whole line?

Some mail clients format messages in a non-standard way that others cannot parse properly, resulting in long lines. Apple's mail programs are known for this.

Doesn't look like that on the screen. Only when printing.

For me it looks like in pagesetup set to "Shrink to fit"

Maybe you can correct that problem by setting in about:config:

  • mail.wrap_long_lines -> true
  • mailnews.wraplength -> 72
  • news.wrap_long_lines -> true

This didn't change the print result :(

I changed limits from 20 to 80 and all wraps to true

print.shrink-to-fit.scale-limit-percent; 80

view_source.wrap_long_lines; true plain_text.wrap_long_lines; true mail.wrap_long_lines;true mail.compose.wrap_to_window_width; true

And it worked for me

I searched for all *wraps and *print to check these values and still have the problem.

If it does print to a readable size, it will cut off the line instead of wrapping it

more options

Could this be a local printer setting instead of a Thunderbird setting?

Could you get the troubleshooting information (under help) copy to clipboard (button) and paste it in here.

Also what are yountrying to print? is it from "email source"? If so and in most viewer you can turn on wrap long lines.

Only way it could be printer is if you have wrong paper size settings in your mac. it thinks its bigger than it is.

I don't see anything special. LookOut can intercept character coding (?) try without it. and no shrink to fit

(print.printer_HP_LaserJet_400_M401_PCL_6.print_shrink_to_fit)

If you are printing source code, you can get that to wrap as well. view_source.wrap_long_lines -> true
