after update to 38.2.0 various menuitems end with | character CAUSE: l10n/language pack?
Problem had occurred in prior version, but disappeared about a year ago after update. So it looks to me like an old mistake was delivered with 38.2.0.
I run Windows 8.1 and erased and reinstalled thunderbird 38.2.0 already.
Behaviour for other users on the same computer is the same.

Please start Thunderbird in safe mode per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode
Does problem go away? If not please post your screen shot here per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem
