I have just run into a little problem.

I run Firefox 41 Beta (x64) and with update 6, Java was no longer being displayed under Plugins. So I tested on my work laptop, which had never had Firefox installed before, and the problem was the same. Just to test, I then installed Firefox 41 beta 4 (x64), and Java was back under plugins, but would still not load Java Applets.

I then tested with Firefox 41 (x86) and while Java is being displayed under plugins, no Java Applet is loading. I wrote in the Firefox community on Google+, and some people have said, that Mozilla have blocked Java do to security issues. And that they are working on a new core to handle Java.

Does anyone have any information?

Java is correctly installed. The reg-key is correct and Java is set to always run. Are there any deep configurations which have been altered?

hi guldfaxe, that's to be expected - windows 64bit versions come with limited plugin support (at the moment only flash is whitelisted). if you depend on other npapi plugins please continue to use regular 32bit builds.

this is by design, as mozilla wants to take a clean slate approach to plugins on win 64bit apparently: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/win64/meetingarchive#Clean_Slate_Approach

The problem is that Java is not working on the x86 platform either. The plugin is active, but Applets are not loading.

can you try to replicate this problem when you launch 32bit firefox in safe mode once?

In safe mode on x86 I can get Java to start. Now for the impossible task of trying to figure out what causes the problem.

The Java Plugin shows up in you list of Plugins in More System Details on right of your OP.

It shows you have various extensions like Noscript as that can be a cause. https://noscript.net/features#contentblocking

Also the Firefox 41.0 has been a Release (only 32-bit on Windows) since Tuesday Sept 22.

If you allow the 41.0b# to update it will be updated to current 42.0b1 since it is on Beta channel.

Firefox 42.0 may be the first to have Win64 for Release.
