Godaddy just changed its email and Mozilla will not allow an edit of any contacts in the address book. I can't add, edit or change anything. Safari works and other browsers do too. Godaddy told me to ask you or use some other browser. I don't want to have to choose. Refresh does not help, it made things worse cause I had to find an old add-on and re-install, reset preferences, etc. I don't know what's in there now. And the email still doesn't work.

Where is this address book? Firefox doesn't come with its own I don't think, so I take it this is on GoDaddy's or some other website (since other browsers can be used to access it)?

If this is a website that's not working correctly, it's most likely an add-on issue, e.g. Flash is not allowed to run on the page or an add-on is blocking the content.

You can rule out Extensions by running Firefox in Safe Mode, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode. If the site still won't work, open the Page Info window and check that the required plugins are allowed in the Permissions tab: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/page-info-window-view-technical-details-about-page.

Sorry, Godaddy site is the email host. They changed from workspace email login to their own. Totally messes me up. Already refreshed Mozilla. Email site still doesn't work right. Address book cannot make changes. Works okay in other browsers.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Okay, so you've tried Safe Mode, checked Allowed plugins and cleared cache+cookies? Refreshed as well?

That's about all there is that I can think of that would set browsers apart in a site's eyes, except the browser's core programming. One thing I would like to check still is turning off all plugins (go to about:addons, select the Plugins tab and select Never Activate for all plugins, restart Firefox) to see if a plugin is interfering, as sometimes it's more about what IS running than what is not.

Speaking of what is running: what antivirus program are you using and do you use other programs that would monitor, filter or otherwise interact with network traffic or browsers? This could be external interference even though it appears to be an internal problem.

Are you able to link to Godaddy advice saying Godaddy told me to ask you or use some other browser.

Are you able to provide a link to any information they have about the browsers and equipment they support.

Also please explain what Godaddy product you are using. Is it a paid for email service ? Perhaps similar to something advertised here

Or is it some free email service ? Or perhaps something as an optional extra with some other service ? Where do you get that from ?

Hi John99 - thank you for the question. I spoke with godaddy on the phone, so they would have a recording of the conversation. The woman I spoke with was in tech support (Brenda?). She thought the problem was in the browser, Mozilla, which makes sense since Safari worked. She said godaddy does not support Mozilla. What that means to me is there is likely something in the Mozilla config that is not compatible. I did a refresh of the browser but that didn't help. It's updated and I can't find the problem. I thought it was a godaddy problem. I see others have problems with godaddy too in the posted comments. The email was workspace, but godaddy just changed the login to an updated view last month, and ditched the address book suppot. I don't know what that means, since I use the classic view which is evidently no longer supported. I think I'm going to ditch godaddy as an email provider.

Phoxuponyou - thank you for taking the time to consider this. I use Norton Anti-virus. The email worked fine with Mozilla until godaddy made a change. I did refresh, cleaned out and refreshed the browser, but still no go. Plug-ins are the usual default types: by Adobe, Google, etc. I have an add-on for the homepage and newtabs that Mozilla did, but that's been on there for a year. Everything else was removed when the browser was refreshed. I think I'm gonna port the company website and email off godaddy at this point and find a different web host. Safari does work, and no doubt IE and Chrome would work fine also. But godaddy has other problems too. Any suggestions for a website host?

I am not sure this is even a Firefox support question. Is it more about web hosting, email clients, and other software rather than free webmail ?

I may be wrong you may just have some simple personal none commercial webpage.

If I understand you correctly. You are using Godaddy commercial email products and your problem is with their adressbook software, not with operation of any free Webmail.

I imagine they may have limitations on any personal webmail services prohibiting business and commercial use. If you are using a commercial paid for product surely it has written Terms & Condition, and System Requirements. They will differ a lot from any freemail T & C.

In my locale for instance I see Godaddy support articles for professional products such as

Possibly you should be looking at using a email client such as Thunderbird. Then you should consider are you to use their own software for managing an address book or some other software.

Alright, it might be time to let GoDaddy go. Who wouldn't support the web's most user-friendly browser!? ;)

My thoughts are drawn to external interference, as you are probably not the only Firefox user who uses GoDaddy and their email service, so there should be a bigger outcry if their webmail was acting up with Firefox. Then again, maybe you are just the first case after the recent update.

I host my company website on a national provider, so I can't be of much use to you there. Their address is www.louhi.fi, but they have no service in English. DuckDuckGo came up with http://geekivity.com/godaddy-alternatives/, which is a fresh (February 2016) and reasonably thorough (pros and cons) comparison of some alternatives by a (now former) GoDaddy customer.

Happy hunting!
