How can I subscribe to a site using the subscribe button without leaving the page I'm subscribing to? I have Tabs Mix Plus, might be part of the issue.

When I'm browsing a webpage that has a subscription link, I click the "subscribe to this page" button and it leaves the page I'm on and takes me to the subscription settings in the same tab. There was a time when I would click it and a neat little pop up would open. Later it became a new tab that would open next to the webpage I was on. Now it just replaces the URL I was on (and looking to subscribe to). So now I have to sort the subscription settings, hit "subscribe now" and then hit the back button to go back to the page I was looking at. I'd much rather have a pop up window or another tab open next to the page I'm subscribing to. Also, I use Tab Mix Plus to organize and customize my tabbed browsing experience. I wonder if the settings in that extension have something to do with this, and I'll probably post them a similar question. Also: I'm using a 2015 MacBook Pro with OS X El Capitan. I have the latest version of this OS and of Firefox.

I don't think that this is possible. You can consider to create a copy (duplicate) of that tab by middle-clicking the Reload button at the right end of the location/address bar. If you can't middle-click then hold down the Command key and left-click the Reload button. Then you can close the second tab once you have subscribed to the feed.

OK...It's just like duplicating the tab, which I probably could have done. But doesn't the pop-up or new tab come up automatically anymore when you want to subscribe to a feed?

You could use an external feed reader like Brief.
