Have Imac Late 2009. After opening firefox after a while i hear loud noise like HD fan and the Imac freezes. After refreshing firefox was fixed only for a while

Loud noise starts after using latest firefox. Refreshing it fixes the problem for a while but it recurs. Computer freezes and need to do hard reset. Using Imac Late 2009 with Yoshmite operating system.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?
