Always having to enable add ons on startup
I am running V49.0.1
Using Windows 7 - almost every time I use Firefox it asks me enable every add-on rather than automatically loading them automatically - how can I prevent this from happening?
I have read the other closed threads and it tells me to remove the extension files or something. I have no idea where to find those files. I went to programs/Mozilla Firefox/Extensions and there were no such files in there. This has become a major irritation. Please don't make me move to Chrome!!

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Delete all extensions*.* files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
After, restart Firefox.
See "Corrupt extension files":
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
You will have to approve the updating one last time.
Hi Fred, forgive me for being obtuse. I got to the profile folder and opened it. Then you told me to close Firefox. So I did.
At that point there is not extension*.* or compatibility.ini because I just closed Firefox.
I saw a folder called extensions. Do I delete all the files in that folder?
I did see the compatibility.ini file but just left it for now until I understand exactly what I am supposed to do. Please consider me to be in Grade 2 :)

The directions would open the file browser to the current profile. Those files would still be there with Firefox closed.
extension*.* means any file that starts with extension
There is a folder called extensions and extensions.json and extensions.ini
Do I delete everything in the extensions folder, too, or just those two files
thank you again for your great patience with me.
