Firefox can't figure out I have updated Adobe Flash player.
I use Firefox as my browser for Facebook. While in Facebook, I periodically see a banner message directly under the Facebook toolbar. That banner tells me that Firefox requires an update to the Flash player for security purposes. Here is the problem; I get this message within 24 - 48 hours after I have just updated the Flash player! I do not have auto-update turned in for Flash; instead, any time a new version comes out (and this is true of all software I use) I get a notice that an update is available. I then go to the software makers page and download the latest version. So why is Firefox unable to detect that I have, in fact, just downloaded the latest version?

cor-el, you obviously didn't read my post. I did not ask how to find out what version of Flash Player I had, I asked why Firefox was not recognizing that I had updated Flash each time I did so. If you aren't going to read and reply to the actual question, don't offer useless information.

Visiting that Adobe page page shows you what Flash version Firefox is using. If you haven't updated the NPAPI Flash version that Firefox uses then there won't be as change in the installed Flash version.

Wow, you REALLY don't read what is written. Let me try again, just for you. I DON'T NEED TO KNOW NOR DO I CARE WHAT THE FLASH VERSION IS! What I asked was why Firefox was failing to recognize that Flash had been updated after every time I updated Flash. As the accurate, informative and ON TOPIC answer from the-edmeister-3 informed me, it was because the automatic update notices I was getting at system start-up were coming from the Google Chrome download of Flash Player, and Mozilla/Firefox isn't set up, sadly, to recognize the update unless it happens through Mozilla. Now stop responding, you are useless.
When you download a Flash update for Google Chrome then this is only for Google Chrome. You will always have to update Flash for each browser individually like posted above because each browser uses its own version of the Flash plugin. Google Chrome comes with its own PPAPI version and needs to update its browser.

This is incredible. How did you wind up as a moderator? You don't read ANYTHING completely. First, Edmeister solved the issue for me, with a SINGLE response that actually responded to the question I asked. You have now sent three responses, the first two of which did not reply to my question at all. If you had sent this answer the first time, that Flash needs to updated through each different browser, THAT would have been useful and a direct response. You didn't do that though, did you? guigs, let me first point out that this issue is almost 4 months old. If you are just now being made aware that I was supposedly being insulting, you should realize that there is a big problem with timely response. Second, let me point out that I am and was well aware that the people responding on here do not work for Mozilla and are not (presumably) the software developers for Firefox. The fact this is a user "staffed" support group was brought to my attention when I joined, and I also got that from trying to find actual Mozilla Tech Support. Third, you need to look at the whole thread before you try chastising me. The first two responses from cor-el, who is shown, I might add, as a TOP TEN contributor, as well as a moderator. I would expect someone with those notes to read my full message; you can see from his first two responses that he did not. I even told him after the first one, not to respond if he wasn't on topic. He did anyway. Finally, I did not insult cor-el at any point. I made two statements of personal opinion; that she/he was useless to me as a source of help, and that I got the information BEFORE cor-el's last two posts, from a person I deemed to be smarter. Primarily since that person, unlike cor-el, read my messages. You may feel I was being insulting: I do not.
