uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
   • Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
   • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

As I said in my initial post, I already "refreshed" Firefox and it did not solve the problem.

Lets do 2 things please.

Can you please make a new profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles Give that a Try with a clean profile nothing in it.

Can we also collect some information please. Copy/Paste about:support into the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. And Paste to a new message please.

This is the one that worked. Thanks everyone for helping. I'd like to be able to use tracking protection, though. Any idea if a fix is coming for this, or a tweak I can make to allow me to use it without stuff breaking?

Would it have to be each news site with embedded tweets? Because it's happening on all of the sites that have them. I tried turning it off for just Twitter and that didn't fix it. Yes, the temporary exception to the built-in tracking protection feature works like a temporary permission for the site in the address bar, analogous to plugin permission:

• this site can use Flash for now vs. this site cannot use Flash until I give permission
• this site can embed trackers for now vs. this site cannot embed trackers until I give permission

For more fine-grained control, you could take a look at an add-on. Traditionally Blur, Disconnect, Ghostery and Privacy Badger were focused on trackers, while Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin were more targeted toward advertising networks. Their lists may have a great deal of overlap. (I'm not sure which are most functional in Firefox 57.)

I'm having similar problems with embedded tweets not displaying properly on firefox whereas they show with no problem on Chrome and Safari.

I have tried Firefox in safe mode with no improvement. I also disabled ad block and tracking protection. But it makes no difference. This is extremely frustrating.

I upgraded to FF 57 when it first came out and tweets were appearing OK with no problem until this week.

any other solutions would be greatly appreciated.

You might also try clearing cache and cookies:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

• right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
• (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
• click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Yes, that's exactly how they are appearing.

You might also try clearing cache and cookies: ... Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

I have tried that and unfortunately it does not help.

I have no advice to offer except to not uninstall and reinstall Firefox if you have a lot of special settings unless you absolutely have to. And combined with my favorite extensions being gone after the big update and some annoyances with some aspects of how Firefox functions now, I'm close to dumping Firefox altogether.

I have not yet uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and I really don't know if it's worth it. I don't have lots of extensions - not any more after the upgrade to FF 57 wiped out what I used to have.

I don't have tracking protection activated so it is not that which is causing my problem. I've tried disabling ad blocker and other extensions.

I am 99.9% sure the problem arose with the very latest update to v. 57.0.4 last week. Twitter was appearing fine until then.

I did delete my user profile, I have disabled the few extensions I do have, I have restarted in safe mode, and nothing works. Embedded tweets are simply not displaying properly, and on some sites are not displaying at all. I just see blank spaces instead of tweets. I had to go to chrome to see what I was missing.

I don't find chrome particularly user friendly, and perversely, Twitter itself is rendered extremely weirdly on Chrome.

So I'm desperately looking for a customisable, reliable browser instead of Firefox. I am thoroughly fed up. If you have any recommendations for another browser I will gladly try them.

I sent a tweet to Mozilla support and also wrote on their Facebook page but I have not heard one word back from them. Very disappointing indeed.

To be honest I don't understand one word of what you wrote. I wish I did but I don't. I'm not a developer or programmer or any of those things. I'm just a simple blogger on wordpress and an internet user, nothing more sophisticated than that.

And all I want is for Firefox to display embedded tweets properly!
