can I make Fire Fox my home page, and export contacts from Aol mail?
I have been using Fire Fox to get into aol mail for months and would like to get rid of internet explorer

You don't have to use Internet Explorer ......
In the header you ask if you can make Firefox your home page - yes, you can. See : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page
As for exporting your contacts from AOL : see Seburo's post.
In case you want to use Thunderbird as your email client :

Hi
Firefox is a web browser, through which you should be able to access your email on AOL. There should not be any need to import anything.
