Hello,

After many years using Thunderbird (currently version 52.5.0 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 14.04 ), this is the first time that happens.

I send and new e-mail in Spanish, with characters like " ñ ", " á ", " é ", " í ", " ó " and "ú" and the recipient receives it well.

The recipient writes back, and I receive his reply correctly , with all Spanish characters ok (in his reply and also in my original message below)

But then, when I want to reply to his response, the recipient receives all Spanish characters in all the message (mi first text, his reply and the new text I send) replaced by this,... ... and if there are further interchanges with this e-mail, all lf these characters are replaced by the same ...

I've looked at this in the forum but solutions to similar problems didn't work.

This is driving me crazy, and making my work really difficult, so I would really appreciate if someone could give me a hand with it.

Thanks a lot in advances. Dany.

This is a character encoding issue. Are you sending mail as unicode? Most problems occur when folk try and use the old windows code pages, and this can creep in on the recipients reply end of things as well.

Right click the folder in the folder pane select properties and expressly force the uncode fallback option for the folder is another solution
