problems with bookmark bar
I have to switch quite often from one bookmark on the bookmark bar to another one, using a different tab. Sometimes the site loads immediately, but many times I get a blanc screen and I have to close the tab and reopen it, sometimes 2 to 3 times before i get a result. Many times the logo of the site does not load in the tab and the two little blue balls keep blinking. I have tried to solve the problem with a previous answer to a similar demand (see below), but the problem persists. Thks for suggestions!
In Firefox 55 and above:
Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux). Select the General panel. Under Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings. Additional settings will be displayed.
Fx55Performance-disableHWA
Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available. Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

Hi Pkshadow, thks for yr help. I did some of the things you suggest - the rest was a bit too complicated for me. But I disabled the proxy server function and this seems to help. I shall leave it at that for the moment and see how it goes. Have a nice day and thanks again

Hi, sorry it is loading slow. These tabs that are open may have auto reload by the website such as CNN or Weather Network. When the tab is not the source of focus these auto reloads are sometimes put on hold till you return to the tab /focus so ya you sorta catch them napping but should not hang up.
There is also some security software that can hamper connections : There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate. As well as your add-ons/adblockers and stuff which we do not have info on as to what you have.
So you could try this : SAFE MODE
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
- default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
- Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
TEST''''is issue still there ? and

This works well on Win10 for some reason : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.2 with a Full Version Installer
Does your system have lots of ram ? If not consider going through all Windows 10 settings (everyone) and turn off things you do not need, deny permissions to things, delete maps and turn off and use web based maps, Also go through each program and uninstall Win10 stuff you can uninstall with a right click and this includes doing it 2x's as it is in the Menu also.
