Flash Player v30 or Higher Not Loading Graphics on Games
Hi. I use Flash Player primarily for games (on Kongregate, Armor, etc...). When Flash version 30 released, the graphics on high-content games are not loading properly. The problem is still there with Flash version 31.
When the game opens, it hangs repeatedly trying to find the server to load the graphics. Opening any new screen that needs additional graphics causes the game to time out as well. This problem is unique to Firefox. I've played these games on Opera with the most current version of Flash and it runs properly (albeit the performance is not as good as on [pre-Flash v30] Firefox).
Here is what I've tried so far: 1. enabling/disabling all extensions other than Flash (both individually and as a group) 2. disabling the "block dangerous content" option on the add-on page and disabling the Flash protected mode (each individually and then together) 3. increasing/decreasing the allowable stored data on the Flash Global settings tab 4. adjusting the sandbox settings in Firefox (lowering from [default] 5 to 4, then to 3) 5. turning on/off hardware acceleration 6. disabling accessibility services 7. adding the website hosting the game to the "exceptions" list to always allow cookies to be stored (which somehow gets erased every time I close Firefox) 8. changing the dom.ipc.plugins.asyncdrawing.enabled setting to true/false
None of these have corrected the issue with the graphics not loading. They are now back at their original settings.
Ghostery, uBlock Origin, and Exif Viewer are the only add-ons that I run which would possibly interfere with loading content. Turning those on/off did not resolve the problem.
The problem persists both on the current PC I am using (Windows 7 running 32-bit Firefox) and my other PC (Windows 10 running 64-bit Firefox).
Would appreciate any help getting this fixed, as I would prefer to keep Firefox as my primary browser for these games. Thanks!

Hi. Thanks, but the graphics card driver is up to date.
I used the program you posted (thanks) and updated all other drivers, restarted the computer, installed Flash v31, and the same problem persisted. Reverted to Flash v29 and everything ran smoothly.
Try The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.
To Refresh Firefox:
- Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
- Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
- If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
- At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
- Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
- Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Hi. I used the refresh feature as suggested. Even when running Flash v31 with all default settings for Firefox, the graphics still would not load. I tested the same with Flash v29 and it ran smoothly.

FYI never use sites to do your updating. Go directly to the manufacture site and find your correct drivers.

Download the Flash Player uninstaller and then re-install the latest version once again.
Make sure you download it from Adobe only and not from third-party pages.
@Westend - thanks for that tidbit
@FFus3r - I've already done this multiple times in testing. I keep a copy of the v29 archive on my PC so that it runs smoothly after v31 is installed, has the outlined problem on Firefox, and then is subsequently uninstalled.
I'm most curious why the NPAPI version which Firefox uses has major problems while the PPAPI version which Opera uses runs smoothly. My thought was there has to be a setting somewhere in FF that can be adjusted. Anyone know?

Hi. Would you please elaborate as to why Adobe Shockwave player is needed. The sites and games I'm visiting use Adobe Flashplayer as the plugin, not Shockwave. Thanks.

The Shockwave Player Plugin and Flash Player Plugin (old name Shockwave Flash) from Adobe are two different Plugins.

Sure you can install it however Firefox 52.0 and later Releases only allowed the NPAPI Flash Player Plugin to run. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/npapi-plugins
IE may the only web browser that still allows the Shockwave Player Plugin to run.

The old name for Flash Player Plugin was Shockwave Flash and it is shown that way in some places in Firefox.
You do not need this Plugin and it will not run in Firefox Releases since 52.0 anyways.
Thanks. That's why I was confused by the suggestion. I don't have Shockwave installed and read elsewhere that it's not supported by new Firefox versions.
Is there a way to get the PPAPI version of Flash Player and run it on Firefox? Just wondering if there's something similar to the extension you can load to Opera that allows Chrome extensions to run in that browser.
Since the games run perfectly fine on PPAPI Flash v31 in the Opera browser, maybe that would be a way to resolve the issue on Firefox.

On Linux it is or was possible with a freshwrapper plugin workaround to make Pepper Flash work in browsers like Firefox and SeaMonkey. Up till mid December 2016, Adobe only supported the old 11.2 esr branch (NPAPI) on Linux so some used the freshwrapper option til then.

32-bit browsers is vague and Shockwave what?
The Shockwave (for director) Player Plugin is not to be confused with Flash Player (old name of Shockwave Flash) Plugin.
The 32-bit requirement was only for Windows as Win64 Firefox only allowed the 64-bit Flash Player and Silverlight Plugins to run whether in 51.0 and earlier (since 43.0) or in old legacy 52 ESR that is now EOL.
The Firefox 62.0.x and 60 ESR (62.2.1esr) only allows Flash Player to run whether on 32-bit or 64-bit on Windows, Linux or Mac though for Mac only 64-bit Firefox is available for a while now.
Seems that this is just an issue of the NPAPI version of Flash Player on Firefox getting overwhelmed when trying to load high volumes of graphical data.
Anyone know how to address that specifically without going to a specific game developer? If not, I'll close this question as resolved.
