I run a Linux lab using Centos 6. All the users have their home dirs on a NAS which are mounted using autofs All the user are authenticated using ldap The problem is that when a user opens Firefox for the first time it takes a very long time, it look like Firefox has failed to start but after a long wait it starts. The next time the user start Firefox it opens fine with no delay. However, If the same user logouts of the computer and then moves to a different computer the same problem occurs. As I understand things, Firefox writes a bunch of files to the user's home dir on the first time startup. Maybe the fact that the home dirs are NFS mounts might explain the delay. However, when the same user moves to a different computer then there should be no need to write any more config files.

What can I do to improve this?
