Trying to download Thunderbird onto a MacBook Air 2018, but after each download attempt, it tells me that the Thunderbird disc is broken and has to be ejected.
Thunderbird seems to download ok but when I try to open it, I am told that the disc is broken , that it cannot be verified, and therefore it is not usable.

There is no opportunity to download apps from anywhere even. though I'm using os Mojave 10.14.3
