WHY DO I HAVE TO SIGN IN TO GOOGLE IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO TRANSLATE THE WEBPAGE ????
Hi all,
I don't know what happened now after i reformatted my laptop and redownloaded firefox, the Google Web Translator now becomes dysfunctional whereby I have to sign-in to Google just to translate a webpage?!?!
Previously, 3 days ago before reformatting, the add-on works fine,with a multicolored Google translate icon embedded on the bar, i just need to click and the webpage automatically translate WITHOUT needing to login, but now not anymore. I even tried uninstalling and re-installing firefox to the latest version ...still the same thing :(
Pls help. Thanks all.

This forum primarily focuses on issues with Firefox. Add-ons, like the Google Web Translator, are usually developed and maintained by third party developers.
Although we can help you here, reaching out to the add-on developer directly via their support email address or support website (if they have one listed) can sometimes yield better answers.
If you do contact the developer directly and find a solution to your problem, please post the solution here, so that other users with similar issues can find the solution quicker. Thanks!

Seeing the "Sign in" button on the Google Translate website is quite normal when you aren't logged in. However this shouldn't affect whether the website works or isn't working. If you block cookies then things might be different.
Can you use this website directly?
You can check the Web Console or the Browser Console for error messages related to this extension.
- "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer
- https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Tools/Browser_Console

Therefore, reaching out to the add-on developer directly is the best option.
People are welcome to ask for help with Extensions here also. Not every Extension author or company has direct support options or their own forum or such. Plus private support by email does not help others ;)
However this is one of those rare third-party extensions (Google Translator for Firefox) where the author actually has a support forum for it, at http://translatorforfirefox.blogspot.com/p/forum.html

Thanks all, for the input, unfortunately problem still not solved,
Cor-el, your input is great put the whole console thingy too complicated for a tech noob like me, and going directly to google translate aren't exactly addressing my issue on how to restore back that direct translate add-on which i once had.
I've posted my issue as Wesley Branton suggested the site, but no reply. The site seems pretty dead, coz there's quite a few posters who've posted their predicament for weeks and months and still NO RESPOND :(
Firefox Team, ANYONE WANT TO HELP PLS?
Hello mozziela,
Maybe you could contact the developer via email :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/google-translator-webextension/
Under : "More information" => Support Email
May I ask if you have to sign in every time you want to translate something and use the add-on ?
It would make sense if you'd only have to sign in after the add-on was disabled a couple of weeks ago, and then re-enabled, but just that one time.
Now this may have nothing to do with it, but since your add-ons are all enabled : would you please remove the "hotfix" extension ?
3-bar menu => Add-ons => Extensions :
"hotfix-update-xpi-intermediate 1.0.6"
Did you try to uninstall and reinstall this Google™ Translator extension?
The toolbar button works for me if I type/paste something select another language. It seems to work partly with the context menu on a web page as it looks that the elements in the URL are in the wrong order and it isn't possible to make a different target language work (it always wants to translate to English). I do see three items in the context menu with all the same label and I do not know what the difference is.
app.content_script.receive("context-menu-url-response", function (url) { var to = config.translator.to; var from = config.translator.from; url = m(5) + url + "&sl=" + from + "&tl=" + to; => url = m(5) + "&sl=" + from + "&tl=" + to + url; if (config.settings.translateInNewTab === 'true') app.tab.open(url); else app.content_script.send("context-menu-reload-page", url); });
