Why do my extensions no longer stay logged in or "updated" between sessions? Since installing v67 they reset back to their previous state every time!

more options

I have the extensions for "Feeder" and "1Password" on Firefox, both of which require to be signed in to be able to use them. However, since upgrading to Firefox v67 Feeder never stays logged in between sessions, and 1Password resets back to the last version that was installed prior to me updating Firefox. So each time I open Firefox 1Password asks me to update it to the latest version, but even if I then close everything down and return to Firefox again later the same day, it has once again reverted back to the old version. I am not having this issue on Chrome or Edge (I've checked) and it is getting to the point where I am considering moving browsers, because Firefox is not keeping my changes or updates to extensions, between sessions.

I am running Windows 10 Pro, and recently upraded to Firefox 67.0.1, but I am still having the same issues. Please can someone help me fix this!?

I have also tried "resetting" the extensions and add-ons as per other advice and guidance, but this had no effect. I have also spoken to 1Password support, who have looked into it and think it is likely a Firefox issue.

Hi Cobbers,

I know that some web sites require that certain cookies be retained to save preferences. Maybe the same is true for these extensions.

Do you have 'Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed' set in your Options -> Privacy & Security -> Cookies and Site Data?

This did actually do the trick (thank you!!) :)

The 1Password forum moderator also came to this same conclusion last night, after several tests they did their end. It seems strange though, as I don't have the same issues on other browsers, and yet still have settings enabled to remove cookies and site data on exit. For example, Chrome has this same series of settings enabled and works fine every time. Is it possible that something has changed in the way Firefox now handles this data, since the v67 upgrade, which is causing the issue?

Honestly though, thanks again for the quick response, I am grateful!

Hi Cobbers,

I'm glad I could help.

I don't use Chrome but I would guess that different browsers clean up more or less differently than others. Similar to the way different utilities clean up at different 'depths' than others.

Anyway, you're up and running again.

Enjoy!
