Issue:  Firefox installed fine, but when I try to access the internet through it nothing happens.

I enter Google on the address bar and got no response.   Chrome and Edge work fine only Firefox is unresponsive.

I have uninstalled it, reinstalled it, refreshed it noting makes it work!

I miss my firefox!

Thanks

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Followed all instructions and didn't help. Windows 10 Firewall doesn't appear to be the culprit.

Firefox upon initialization, attachment Firefox 1.jpg just sits. After manually entering Google (Ctrl + Enter) attachment 2.jpg continue to just sit. I hate Chrome prefer Firefox and have used it 20+ years.

Also included a capture of Task Manager.

Is there a utility program (I'm old school, don't call them App's) that will check all Firefox for configurations, settings, needed files ?

Ideas?

Thanks

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select Network.

[56+] Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar. Look for Network. +++++++++++++++++++++ Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. If you are using a proxy, make sure those settings are correct. If there is no proxy, first try No Proxy. If there is a problem, then try System Proxy.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Started Firefox in Safe Mode, do difference, bizzare . This all started after a MS Tuesday update 2-3 weeks ago. It's driving me sane.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

Fred,  Thanks for all your help still won't respond, I don't have a clue why it's acting the way it is.   To give you a quick background on the device I'm running it on, it's an old Lenovo x140e 12", began life as a Windows 8 but I took advantage of the MS free Windows 10 upgrade almost immediately after receiving it never screwing with Windows 8.   I have three newer laptops all running Windows 10 and no issues with my favorite browser Firefox.

I'm debating whether to buy a full copy of Windows 10 Home ($125+-) and simply "burn & rebuild" this unit from scratch rather than buying a new unit $500+ or buying a small Chromebook for grins and learning something new.

Thanks again..
