Cannot switch between accounts
Since the last update of Thunderbird it has become almost unusable. I have been using Thunderbird without much issue for 14 years+ I have three email accounts and I cannot switch between them unless I restart it in safe mode. I have no add-ons or extensions installed.

Yay! Thanks sfhowes. Turning off the hardware acceleration did the trick. You're a star :)

If it works in safe mode, test for a broken layout ('Reset toolbars & controls') or disable hardware acceleration in Options/General/Indexing.
