I receive pop up notification from Mozilla Firebird but email is not in box

I am receiving pop up notifications that emails have been received, however, when I check my box there is no new emails there at all. Not under ALL MAIL or the Confidential Folder that they are supposed to be in.

have you tried the inbox... the normal destination of new mail in an imap accout?
