Can't send mail from outlook stnp

Everything I have is updated. I got a new address fro outlook and get this error message. the smtp.office365.com is set correctly. Win 10 , Thunderbird Vs 91.1.0

Sending of the message failed. A PKCS #11 module returned CKR_GENERAL_ERROR, indicating that an unrecoverable error has occurred. The configuration related to smtp.office365.com must be corrected.

That error seems to be related to the use of Smartcards. Do you have one?

I own smart cards for storage . I do not have them in my laptop at the moment.

Maybe there is some smartcard software that is installed, such as drivers, that is causing the error even when the card isn't connected.
