I signed in yesterday and instead of getting Bing as my home page, I got Norton Safe Search. Never asked for Norton and don't want it. How do I get Bing back? There was some reference which said in effect that the home page was changed by 'an extension' and that it could be changed but no indication on how to do that. I recently downloaded Windows 11 from Windows 10.

Firefox doesn't change homepage and never does that. You need to look at your Norton setting to see why it changed it. Otherwise you need to contact Norton support to ask how to fix the problem their software caused. Even if you changed it back manually Norton will remove it again so you need to find out what is going on with Norton. Also you should go and look at your own extension manager to see what is happening to the Addon.

Doesn't it mention which extension has changed the homepage setting?

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
