Firefox quit working on my machine

All of a sudden Firefox won't load. I get this message ...

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window."

There is no other window open and I still get this message. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it and I still get this message when the program won't load.

If the message says that Firefox is still open, look at task manager. Anything there? What version of Firefox?

You may need to delete a lock file.
