Why will FF not display bitmapped counter image?

Firefox works fine except that it will not display my bitmapped counter images (mime type X-XBITMAP Image). Safari and Explorer will. Here is a direct link to an example... http://wvmc.com/cgi-bin/img_counter.pl?wvmc.txt or see it at the bottom of the webpage at http://wvmc.com/.

That is no longer supported by Firefox. See Bug 504822 – Remove XBM support from Mozilla --- (/forum/1/628150)
