Can the latest release of Firefox be configured to allow all new tab openings to be to the right of the last opened tab, without using an addon to achieve this?
Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Do you mean at the far right or somewhere in between?
The default is to open a link in a tab directly next to the current tab and you can change a pref to open a new tab after the last tab at the far right. For other options you will need an extension.
Set the pref browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to false on the about:config page to open a tab after the last tab if you click a link.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Thank you cor-el for the information. Your answer was exactly what I was looking for.
