i do not want firefox to keep displaying previous session

When I open up my Firefox browser version 4 it restores/displays my previous browsing history which I do not want to happen. I have gone under the general tab to ensure that the option "when Firefox starts" the option "show my home page" is selected and not "show my windows and tabs from last time".

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any extensions installed?
If so, have you tried disabling them to see if one of them is restoring your previous session?
Extensions that have similar features may override those features in Firefox.
