All of a sudden, the firefox browser appears as a small square in either the upper or lower part of the screen. Have no idea how to enlarge it. Have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times. Windows Vista. Any suggestions?

Try to restore the window via the right-click context menu menu of the icon on the Taskbar.
Once you have done that then open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window to make it larger. If that works then close Firefox to save the new window size.
