I updated Firefox and now there is a black space between the menu bar and the search bar. It was never their before and it is quite annoying. Also when i scroll over a button it highlights it black. That also never happened before. I think it is because i have an alienware version of windows 7.

You can look in View > Toolbars to see if you can identify that that toolbar.

  • Firefox > Options
  • View > Toolbars

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You may also need to disable transparency in Windows 7.

Right click in a free space on your desktop.
Left click on Personalization.
There are four options in Windows 7 at the bottom of the screen, choose "Window Color and Appearance".
Select a border color
Uncheck: "Enable transparency"
