A few days ago the motherboard on my computer went out, and the computer is Kaput. The hard drive is OK. I installed it as a secondary drive on my new computer (both Win XP SP3s)

What used to be my local c:\drive is now my e:\ drive, and that is where all my bookmarks and history are stored.

Of course there is no back up, so I need to know if there a way I can get my settings from the e:\drive into my newly-installed Firefox?

  1. Locate your old profile on your now secondary drive (E:/)
  2. Open your current profile (on C:/)
    • In Firefox Help > Troubleshooting Information > Application Basics section | Profile Folder | click Show Folder button will open an explorer window of your current profile folder
    • close Firefox
  3. Copy places.sqlite from your old profile folder (on E:/) to your new profile folder (on C:/)
    • Caution: copying the file over the top of the current places.sqlite file will over-write any bookmarks/history that you have added to the new Firefox profile on your current drive C./
  4. Restart Firefox and your Bookmarks and History should be available

Other files that you can copy from your old profile to your new profile. Do not copy the profile folder itself.
