Mozilla just stopped working, no way it will start what do i do to get it back with all its settings (e.g. bookmarks)

I use WIndows XP. Firefox just would not work. The PC had locked up. The only way out was the technicians reset (I.e. power off/on) Now everything else works but not Mozilla. It will not start. I do not want to lose my bookmarks. i ahve tried to retrieve them following instructions on these pages. Nothing works it is a s dead as a doornail. What to do?

What do you mean by "does not work" ? Could you elaborate please?
