How do I get to the "Firefox screen" and the "Firefox button"?
I need to reset Firefox (ver 18 running on Vista Home) to fix problem with downloads. But I can't get to the troubleshooting screen. There is no "Firefox screen" and there is no "Firefox button" on our computer. If I don't have a Firefox screen or a Firefox button, what other way can I reset the browser? Thnx!

In the address bar in Firefox (where you type addresses) type in about:support then press Enter. You can Reset Firefox from there.
Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
Did you try to delete the downloads.sqlite file?
You can create a new profile to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
That worked great. I reset. But I still can't download anything. I purchase a lot of vector art and photos, and this is killing me. I download something, and a Firefox pop-up shows me that the download was completed, but then, nothing. It does not save the file. It will not display the image in the browser. If I click on it in that Firefox box, it won't open in Illustrator, or Photoshop, or Acrobat. Nothing.
It worked just fine five days ago, and I made no changes since then. The Mozilla web site said resetting Firefox is the best way to fix downloading problems. The service bureaus all say the problem is with Firefox.
Frustrating! I included a screen shot of the Firefox download box.
Are "Open" and "Open Containing Folder" in the right-click context menu in the Download Manager window grayed?
If that is the case then that means that the file is not in the original download location and may have been removed by Anti-virus or cleanup software.
It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
