I have it set to the Mozilla Firefox Start Page. However, on the bottom of my screen (taskbar) there are boxes with McAfee search info that I can't delete.

I have my Homepage set to the Mozilla Firefox Start Page. However, on the bottom of my screen (taskbar), there are small boxes appearing with "McAfee.......Secure Search" that I do not know where they came from. How do I delete these boxes from my taskbar?

Most likely, the reason in addon. disable or remove add-ons will help to delete it.

How do I delete add-ons?

Extensions that do not have a "Remove" button are installed by other software and are not under control of the Firefox extension manager.
Such globally installed extensions are usually found via a registry scan or are installed in a location that Firefox scans for installed extensions.

Extensions installed this way need to be removed via the settings (options/preferences) of the program that has added this extension.
In Firefox you an only disable such an extension.

I clicked on "TOOLS"......then "ADD-ONs"......and hit the "disabled" button. At least now I do not see those boxes on the bottom of my screen.

Those boxes on the bottom of my screen came back again. I read the Firefox instructions on HOW TO DISABLE EXTENSIONS and I cannot get it to work. Where is the Firefox button on the top of my Firefox window? I cannot click on it if I can't find it. I did click on TOOlS.....then I clicked on ADD-ONS but there is no Add-on Manager tab. Please reply. Thanks.

You can go to "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" to disable extensions.

Thank you; it worked. Now, how do I remove the small box on the top of my screen that has the letter "M" in circled in red, and next to it it says, "Secure Search." I do not know where that small box came from. Please reply. Thanks.

If you have McAfee installed, there may be an entry to disable that function in your McAfee preferences.

If you've actually removed McAfee from your system via Control Panel>Programs and Features then you may need to use their own removal tool to get rid of any components that have been left behind. McAfee and Norton AV are notorious for this hassle.

Removal tool is here: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

I clicked on the "download mcafee" you mentioned, however, the small box still shows up at the top of my screen. I says, "Secure Search" in the box.
