Why Mozilla Firefox opens a port on my external IP?
I wanted to know why mozilla firefox opens a port on my external IP. When I was looking through my active connections one of them was this
"TCP 192.168.1.2:1975 xxx.106.1xx.xxx:45365 ESTABLISHED 1408"
The PID was 1408 and it was that of firefox.exe. The foreign address was my external IP. To be sure I checked it also with online port checker and the 45365 was the only port open. Is this ok or should I be worried?

Hi,
I reached out to the privacy team and in order to better investigate, could you please provide these troubleshooting steps:
- Do you have addons installed, besides the ones listed in the troubleshooting info?
- Are you visiting a web page that launches a plug-in like Java?
Looking forward to your reply!!
Also please update to version 28 for security concerns, and let us know if you still notice that connection.
Yes, I do have other addons installed, but I'm gonna provide all of them: 2 micro drm (netscape network object and store netscape plugin),adobe acrobat, quick time plugin, shockwave flash, vlc web plugin, wmp plug-in dynamic link library, java deployment toolkit and java platform se 7 u51, also DVR Client (only once used though). Java deployment toolkit and platform are set to never activate, but I can't remember if I used java that day. Extensions installed are adblock plus and a download manager. However the open port thing was a one time thing (I noticed it only a day before I posted this question), I also closed all the tabs and the port was still open. Also I tested almost all the plugins except DVR client and the java. As soon as I find websites to test these I'll provide the info cuz I dont have more time for now. Tomorrow I'm gonna open all the sites I used that day as i have the history untouched and will provide the informations if the same thing happens. Also, since I have a very slow pc i have to use version 23 of firefox, since it's the only stable version for my pc. Also if the process ever repeats, can I post here what I did that lead to it, or it must be only for newer versions of firefox?
How exactly are you connected to the Internet? Please describe your setup.
Ok, since the version is old there is an add on that may help showing all the open ports: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../port-scanner/ and see if this helps see if there are any notes for what process is coming from Firefox. Java programs will do this and it may also be coming from one of those. Check safe mode if the port still is activeDiagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode and that will tell you if its an add on.
