Ok so it sounds like there are two things that can be happening here:
- The "See what's new" tab is now set (along with your regular home page) as your home page. You can re-choose your home page by just dragging that one page to the home button. Details are in How to set the home page.
- If you've tried the solution above and it doesn't work, it can be that Firefox is not able to save that preference for some reason. In that case, resetting Firefox will fix that. Instructions for resetting are here - Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings. After resetting Firefox you'll have to choose your home page again.

You can re-choose your home page by just dragging the page you want to the home button in the toolbar.
There are detailed instructions in this article: How to set the home page.
It is the "See what's new" tab which appears each time alongside my homepage when I launch Firefox.

You can check for problems with preferences.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
Thanks. The reset Firefox did the job. Regards Frankb007
