Tab names not displaying

Since the most recent update to Firefox (unfortunately I don't recall which version I updated from) the tabs no longer display their names except for the one that is selected. They just show a blank tab with the thumbnail image.

However, if the firefox window is not selected (e.g. it's in the background with another window in front of it), the names do show up.

Chosen solution

It is possible that there is a problem with the font color and that a white or transparent color is used for unselected tabs.

Did you rule out issues caused by an extension or theme?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Switching to safe mode didn't help, but I didn't have any custom themes or extensions installed. However, I tried switching over to a new, non-default theme and that seems to have fixed the issue.

Thanks for your help.
